Single-family construction in Alberta falls to lowest level since 2009 recession

  • Construction of new single-family homes in Alberta fell to the lowest level since the 2009 recession, according to the latest data from Statistics Canada,


New Home Sales Soar Most Since 2007 Driven By Southern Sales Surge 

  • the Census reported that in July the US saw a whopping 654K new home sales, up 12.4%, from the prior month and higher by 31% from a year ago, smashing expectations of a 580K print,

  •  the BOJ that it would double its ETF purchases to ¥6 trillion, or $58 billion, up from the current ¥3.3 trillion, which is the equivalent to the Fed purchasing $580 billion in ETFs


  • BOJ is nationalizing the stock marketbecause that is precisely what it is doing with every incremental intervention in the stock market.

Private Placement: European Companies Issue Debt Simply Because the ECB will Buy That Debt

Debt Seller’s Paradise

  •  the ECB is buying private placement debt with little regard for safety. In turn, private equity companies issue debt simply because they know in advance the ECB will buy it.
  • It’s a startling example of how the market is adapting to extremes of monetary policy, and it’s a safe conclusion the experiment will not end well.
  • The ECB only announces what it will buy, not how much of it. Yet, that has spawned a guessing game driving yields lower and lower.
  • As soon as the ECB does buy an issue, the interest rate on those bonds collapse. And now we see private placement of debt, specifically designed with the ECB in mind.
  • QE is supposed to spur lending and investment. In practice, it’s killing pension plans while fostering bond bubbles.


“It’s Gone” – Why Foreign Demand For US Treasuries Has Disappeared

France, Germany Push for Limits on Encrypted Messaging in Fight Against Terror

  • French Interior Minister has met with his German counterpart  Tuesday (August 23) to unveil a plan to limit the use of encrypted messaging to combat terrorism, 
  • france and germany called for social media operators running encrypted services to cooperate with security services and the police into criminal investigations.

Kerry tells South Sudan leaders to stick to peace deal or face sanctions

  • U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has urged South Sudan’s leaders to “get the job done” by fully implementing a peace deal or face a U.N. arms embargo and sanctions.

  • German press agency DPA, which cites a confidential document prepared by the government according to which the government is considering “bringing back nationwide conscription in times of crisis”, such as situations in which the country needs to “defend NATO’s external borders,”

  1. You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be actually something which I think I would never understand.
    It seems too complicated and very broad for me. I am looking forward for your
    next post, I will try to get the hang of it!
